AGU Zurich provides several services as experts in (trauma) biomechanics, accident reconstruction and legal medicine.
- Accident reconstruction: A technical analysis is performed to reconstruct an accident. Relevant parameters to be determined include (vehicle) velocities or accelerations. Furthermore particular questions related to the accident causation and/or the movement of the involved parties are investigated.
- Biomechanics expertises: Analysing the causes of injuries as claimed after a particular event (accident) is the focus of a biomechanical expertise. Based on technical information as well as medical files, the causality between an event and certain complaints or injuries is assessed.
- Short biomechanical expertises (triage): Here a short assessment based on technical and medical files is performed. Such an assessment is less accurate than a throughout accident reconstruction followed by a biomechanical assessment, but nonetheless allows a quick overview on a certain case and thus is a helpful tool for case management.
- Investigations of sports accidents: Various aspects of sports accidents can be investigated to reconstruct an accident and/or address different (legal) questions related to the possible causation of injuries.
- Assessment of the ability to drive: Based on a medical examination as well as a driving test (if needed) the ability of a person to drive a car is analysed. Elderly drivers are the focus of this work.
- Liability cases / special analyses: These analyses involve various specialised examinations or evaluations e.g. related to cases involving speeding. In addition we consult in liability cases and/or work as expert witnesses in related law suits. Note that our experts are fluent in English, German, French and Italian and thus are involved in liability cases in various European courts.
