Research project on vehicle safety systems

In a vehicle not all safety-related systems are installed by default. Many systems, particularly new driving assistance systems, are available as options and thus, the equipment in vehicles strongly varies. However, for various applications such as the analysis of accident data it would be useful to know the exact configuration of a vehicle involved. To-date this information is not part of the available databases.

On behalf of the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) and in cooperation with AXA Winterthur, Swiss Council for Accident Prevention (bfu) and the Dynamic Test Center (DTC) we examine ways in which comprehensive information on vehicle safety systems can be made available.
